National Supported Employment Conference Participation

The Information Forge is grateful to The Canadian Association for Supported Employment and the Manitoba Supported Employment Network for the opportunity to participate in the National Supported Employment Conference held in Winnipeg October 23-25, 2003. The company was able to speak to a large number of supported employment professionals from across the country at its booth. An enthusiastic group attended the company's presentation that addressed the benefits of an integrated database system for people-serving organizations.

The Information Forge Chooses Open Source Technologies

After a rigorous process, including input from a highly skilled expert panel, the Information Forge has made the strategic decision to develop theForge.info using open source technologies. This decision will allow the company to have access to the tremendous resources that exist in the open source community while using very powerful technologies.

Open source technologies will ensure that high licencing costs need not be passed on to clients, as would be the case if proprietary technologies were used.

Manitoba Federation of Labour Convention Participation

The Information Forge was pleased to participate in the trade show portion of the Manitoba Federation of Labour's Convention September 17-20, 2003. This convention provided an excellent opportunity for the company to meet Union Members from across Manitoba and to show them how theForge.info is able to help them in serving their members.

theForge.info is Officially Announced

The Information Forge team is pleased to officially announce the name of its new flagship product - theForge.info

theForge.info is aimed at people-serving non-profit organizations. It will enable them to track information on their clients, services and outcomes. It is a very flexible and modular system that will allow client agencies to track the data that is important to them and to generate meaningful reports that will serve the needs of front line workers, management and funders.

The system tracks an extensive amount of information on people (including clients, donors, volunteers, staff, etc.), organizations (including employers, other organizations, funders, etc). It also tracks financial transactions, programs, counselling activities and so on.

The Information Forge Moves Into Smartpark.

The Information Forge has moved into Incubat, the new high technology business incubator located in Smartpark at the University of Manitoba.

Incubat provides a full range of office and business supports on site, allowing the company to focus its efforts on its clients and services.

Through its location on the campus of the University the company is able to benefit from collaboration with University faculty and students.

TRLabs Newest Enterprise Associate.

The Information Forge has been accepted by TRLabs as its newest Enterprise Associate. TRLabs is Canada's largest not-for-profit information and communications technology research consortium and is internationally recognized as a leading model for industry-university-government collaboration.

The Information Forge joins several levels of government, a number of research labs and other premier Canadian Information and telecommunications companies in TRLabs membership. The company will benefit from the vast body of research and experience that is available through the lab and its network of affiliated partners.

Information Forge Signs Mentorship Agreement with e-Stage Capital.

The Information Forge has entered into a long term mentorship relationship with e-Stage capital, which provides mentoring and other supports to emerging Information Technology companies.

Through its principals Dr. Jack Peterson PhD and Walter Hill C.A. and network of other skilled individuals, e-Stage offers years of experience in bringing high tech companies to maturity.

The Information Forge Announces Plans For Client Tracking Software.

Managing Partners, Irvin Boschmann and David Robinson of The Information Forge have announced plans to develop an Internet-based software application to assist non-profit organizations track their clients, services and outcomes. This system will allow non-profit organizations to access cutting edge technology without the high overheads and technical requirements of traditional systems.

The system will be delivered over the Internet, allowing client agencies to access the system with a minimum of technology. A computer with Internet access will be all that is required so even small volunteer based agencies will be able to access the system from libraries and other community access sites.

Agencies will not have to worry about computer servers, backups, changing technology or other aspects of running a conventional system as this will all be included in a reasonable monthly rental charge.
